No record can be found on the Cruiser Pauline. Behind the boat is part of the extensive wharf that lined the bank of the Machias River. None of the several Main Street buildings behind the wharf still exist. The large building at the upper right is the old Machias high school (Libby Hall), which was located on lower Court Street. The photo can be dated to the early 1900s because the additions to the front of the building were not built until the 1920s. The old school was taken down in the mid- 1950s. The small Cape Cod house just to the left of the high school is still there.
