Make a Cyanotype
Monday and Wednesday through Saturday
Make your own photograph using only the sun, light-sensitive paper, and your own or found objects. Made possible by a grant from the Maine Humanities Council and the Maine Arts Commission. Free with museum admission.

Making a Tintype Portrait

Come have your tintype portrait taken, or learn how a tintype is made. Tintypes are a type of photograph, popular in the 1860’s and 1870’s, taken on a piece of metal. Portraits will be made on a first come first served basis or you may reserve a time for your portrait by calling the museum at 207-548-0334 or 207-548-2529.

Artist: AgNO3 Lab is a mobile lab specializing in formal tintype portraits and event tintype photo-booth installations.

Mike Stein Memorial Painting Raffle Drawing

In memory of Penobscot Marine Museum’s beloved Board Member Dr. Mike Stein, and to celebrate his love of the water and boating, Jerri Finch has donated her beautiful painting West Fork to raise funds in his memory. The painting is oil on board, 9 1/2″ x 14 1/2″, and has a lovely wooden frame. Purchase your raffle tickets or make a donation in Mike’s memory online here.
