Light Rain first part, Latter part pleasant .Ship off Auges [?] at 4 P.M. Coolies on deck all day more or less – Coolies quiet and contented. Cleaned deck and sprinkled chloride of Lime below. Gave them food as per memorandum Good breeze through the day, pretty cool below considering the weather. 4 coolies a light-punishment for fighting below. Coolies on the average behave very well.
Pleasant throughout – Coolies more or less on deck, &. Sick coolies improving fast. Opium seems to be almost exausted (sic) among the coolies. Gave them food as per memorandum. Gave them Bean Soup with a little rice & sugar instead of tea this afternoon at dinner. Good breeze throughout. Not very hot below considering the weather; pretty cool, during the day – food cooked very well.
