Thomas Buttersworth Jr., attributed, c.1815. During the War of 1812, Captain David Porter took his 32-gun frigate ESSEX into the Pacific in March of 1813.

Thomas Buttersworth Sr. c. 1815. Captain Philip Broke drilled and trained the crew of the SHANNON for seven years.

Thomas Buttersworth Sr. c.1815. The War of 1812 was over when the British captured the frigate USS PRESIDENT. But no one knew a peace treaty had been signed.
