Displayed are trading receipts noting the transactions between U.S. and China. Items like tea, porcelain, silk and nankeen, a strong cotton material, were treasured products. This created a high demand for these products from China to Western markets. The trade between these two countries in the seventeenth century was vibrant and would shape modern trading practices in both East Asia, Maine, and the Western World.
