The 74-foot ex-passenger ferry May Field, built in Brewer in 1875, came to grief twenty years later on the Hart Island’s ledges, south of Port Clyde. She’s abandoned here, and filling and draining with the tide. It’s the end of her, but a beginning for the 163-foot schooner J.W. Balano, shown partly planked on the Port Clyde waterfront.
