A group embarks in a couple of lapstrake peapods, aka “double enders”, from Matinicus about 1905 for a clambake on nearby Wheaton Island. The well-dressed ladies are going to have to be careful not to get their skirts wet. The two open powerboats moored among the sloop boat fleet foretell the future of lobstering.
