Fog & Ice Speaker Series – Fog Along the Maine Coast with Meteorologist Mike Clair
February 2 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
$5Event Navigation
The Maine coast is renowned for both its beauty and its lobster, but did you know it also holds the title as one of the foggiest places in the country? A unique combination of geography, rugged coastline, and local water temperatures combine to produce a high frequency of foggy days along the coastline. Meteorologist Mike Clair with the National Weather Service in Gray discusses how fog forms, what leads the coastline of Maine to see as much fog as it does, and how local terrain affects differences in fog presence over just a few miles. Differences in seasonal fog formation processes and frequency are also discussed.
