Time Traveler’s Children’s Camp: 1950s
July 31 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Friday, July 31
9:00am to 4:00pm
$40/$30 members or all four camps for $145/$95 members
Go back in time with the time travelers camps! Each camp will visit a different era to explore what Mainers were doing at that time. Camps include a variety of activities from sea chanteys and stories to games, crafts, and exhibit visits. Registrations accepted until 5pm the day before each camp!
Inspired by PMM’s 1950 lobsterboat GENEVIEVE and Dahlov Ipcar’s “Lobsterman,” campers will explore the ins and outs of lobstering, Maine’s canneries, and other fisheries. They will make their own lobsters and practice being lobstermen with a visit to the hands-on lobster boat exhibit. The 1950s also saw the extension of Interstate 95 into Maine. The “mile a minute” highway increased auto tourism and campers will take a look at the experiences of these new tourists through photographs, games, and activities.
