The Penobscot Expedition, during the Revolutionary War, was the worst naval disaster in American history until Pearl Harbor. David Middleton, a costumed interpreter, will discuss the failures of the assault on Magabigaduce (Castine) and the consequences to the Mid-coast and Penobscot regions of Maine.

Judy Chandler's grandparents ran the Blue Hill Bay Lighthouse. They raised twelve children at this remote lighthouse accessible by foot only at low tide or by boat. Using family photos, hear about her family's adventures and experience living in a lighthouse.

What can you learn from a ship’s painting, a 19th-century logbook, or a souvenir from China? How can these objects be used to teach? In this interactive presentation, PMM staff will discuss the benefits of object-based learning. Guidelines will be provided for using Museum artifacts as primary sources in the classroom and as starting points for storytelling.

Where in the World is John Worth? John Worth spent his life driving tugs, windjammers, and other workboats on Penobscot Bay. This past year, he took off on a retirement trip, "The Kite" by water; come hear about the ports he visited and the adventures he had traveling up the Hudson, Erie Canal, St. Lawrence, and down the Chambly Canal, through Lake Champlain, and back out the Hudson. Presented in conjunction with the Maine Retired Skippers.
