SUMMARY:Shadow Box Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop participants will create a custom shadowbox by layering a variety of new and vintage images and drawings. Shadow boxes can be very diverse and allow the addition of depth to the creations. We have a lot of nautical themed elements to add to your design\, but don’t feel “boxed” into that theme! Feel free to bring your own materials to make your shadow box even more unique. Recommended for adults. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. \nThe workshop will take place at Penobscot Marine Museum\, 2 Church St.\, Searsport. Register here. \nCost: $25/person

SUMMARY:Member Monday — Rockland Photographer Jim Moore in the Spotlight
DESCRIPTION:In 2022\, PMM was able to acquire six binders full of maritime related photographic negatives taken by Rockport photographer Jim Moore. Moore was an established newspaper photographer who spent most of his career as the midcoast correspondent for the Portland Press Herald and other Gannett Publishing papers. He was a contemporary and friend of Kosti Ruohomaa and Carroll Thayer Berry\, and together they published The Maine Coastal Portrait in 1959. PMM Photo Archivist Kevin Johnson will share a peek into the Moore Collection as a preview of our upcoming April exhibit at the Camden Library. \n\n\nMember Mondays are included as a member benefit and feature intimate Zoom lunchtime programs presented by staff members. Member Monday programs are scheduled January through April. Not a member? Join here. \n\n\nPhoto: Steel “boom jumper” No. 35 being launched by crane for sea trials on April 18\, 1952 at Rockland’s General Foods Shipyard. Photo by Jim Moore.
