Bill Abbott \nCaptain William Abbott\, a 1945 graduate of Maine Maritime Academy\, spent fifty years piloting vessels into many ports including those of the Penobscot River and Bay.  Many of Maine’s port pilots were mentored by Capt. Abbott.  They will share memories and lessons learned from Capt. Bill Abbott as they honor his legacy of providing safe passage through difficult waters. \nDonations will be gratefully accepted towards the digitization of the Capt. Bill Abbott Photography Collection at PMM.  PMM’s Main Street Gallery.  Admission free.

Details on how sails and windmill blades have changed over the years to optimize how much power they catch from the wind will be presented.
