Join Penobscot Marine Museum Curatorial Staff for live lunchtime Zoom presentations. Rotating between Curator Cipperly Good, Photo Archivist Kevin Johnson, and Digital Collections Curator Matt Wheeler, each week a different staff member will focus on one of their favorite artifacts or collections. Enjoy close up views and interesting stories, plus an opportunity to ask your own questions and chat with PMM staff!
On this Monday, Curator Cipperly Good will talk about Henry Starrett, who’s career spanned more than two decades as captain of four vessels and his voyages took him to ports on at least four continents. His wife, Ellen Cutter Starrett, and later his two children, Anne and Francis, often accompanied him. In his downtime at sea and in port, which was not often, he built the model of the FRANK N. THAYER over a seven-year period. Learn more about Starrett and the ship that inspired the model.
