The fascinating world of exquisite wooden ship models, which has devotees around the world, will be explained on Tuesday, July 15, at 7:00 pm at Penobscot Marine Museum.  BlueJacket Shipcrafters’ owner Nic Damuk will talk about model ship design and types construction, styles of finished models, the history and purpose of model ships, functional models versus hobby uses, and model materials.   About Ship Modeling will be in PMM’s Main Street Gallery, 40 East Main Street, Searsport.  Tickets are $8 for members and $10 for non-members. BlueJacket Shipcrafters has is the oldest model ship and boat company in the U.S., and has been in business since 1905.  Nic Damuk has been a modeler for sixty years, and has been making ship models for thirty years.  He has a BS in Physics and an MBA in Marketing, and lived in Connecticut his whole life until purchasing BlueJacket Shipcrafters in Searsport last fall.

Penobscot Marine Museum has an extensive collection of ship and boat models.

The museum is in Searsport, Maine and has seven new exhibits and over fifty programs and events during the 2014 season.  Its three acre, ten building campus is on Route One in Searsport, and is open Monday through Saturday, 10am to 5pm, and Sunday noon to 5:00 pm through Sunday, October 19.
