Exhibit Installation
Tasks: Install objects, hang pictures, and prepare exhibits for display
Requirements: Design sense, attention to detail, and careful object handling
Commitment: April–May (approx. 15 hours/week); additional installations as needed
Object Handling Support
Tasks: Assist curatorial staff in moving museum objects for installation and storage
Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy objects; careful handling skills
Commitment: On call throughout the year
Exhibit Carpentry & Fabrication
Tasks: Design, build, and repair exhibit furniture and display elements
Requirements: Woodworking skills and ability to read plans
Commitment: As needed
Label & Image Mounting
Tasks: Assist curatorial staff in mounting labels and images for exhibits
Requirements: Strong attention to detail and a steady cutting hand
Commitment: On call throughout the year
Archival Assistance
Tasks: Assist with processing, organizing, and storing archival collections
Requirements: Careful handling of fragile materials; ability to read handwritten documents; love of sleuthing and attention to detail
Commitment: On call throughout the year
Library Research Assistance
Tasks: Assist visitors with library and archival research
Requirements: Basic library skills; comfort working with the public; ability to use finding aids and online catalogs
Commitment: 4+ hours per week year-round or as needed
Cataloguing Assistance
Tasks: Assist with cataloguing and photographing collection items
Requirements: Attention to detail; basic keyboarding and photography skills
Commitment: 4+ hours per week year-round or as needed
