Have you met Mr. Ropes? Or have you heard about Penobscot Marine Museum’s cat puppet ambassador? He visits local libraries and classrooms to share our maritime history with our youngest audiences. Mr. Ropes is inspired by a sketch in an 1892 journal kept on board the Searsport-built MABEL I. MEYERS. Mr. Ropes started his life at PMM during pandemic programming and his work has grown over the years. In this Member Monday, hear the true history of Ropes the cat and discover how Mr. Ropes shares these stories. Plus, enjoy a reading of the new comic book, “The Adventures of Mr. Ropes,” written and illustrated by Penobscot Marine Museum’s Intern/Education Assistant, Veronica Maresh Mead.
