Capt. Daniel S. Parrott, Professor of Marine Transportation at Maine Maritime Academy will discuss weather phenomena relating to the operation of tall ships, both from a historical perspective and from personal experience.

Make your own maritime shadowbox to take home! Inspired by shadowboxes and other maritime art in the PMM collection. Participants will create their own work of art. All materials are all provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own wood, glass, etc. box if desired. Includes Museum admission.

Discover the fascinating true story of Abbie Burgess who, in 1856, single-handedly kept the lighthouse lamps lit during a tremendous storm off the coast of Maine. Authors Connie and Peter Roop will read from their book, Keep the Lights Burning, Abbie, followed by a book signing.

Beloved children’s author E.B. White moved to Maine for the second half of his life, where he wrote classics like Charlotte’s Web and Stuart Little, farmed a little, and enjoyed sailing in Penobscot Bay and along the Maine Coast. His sailing dinghy, “Faint Endeavor” is now exhibited at the Penobscot Marine Museum. Come to the birthday party celebrating E.B. White to enjoy a storytime reading of the biography A Boy, A Mouse, and a Spider, crafts, games, face painting, and Stone Fox Farm Creamery Ice Cream. Presented in collaboration with the Carver Memorial Library.

On the 120th anniversary of E.B. White’s birth, join the Penobscot Marine Museum for an evening of readings and cocktails in the PMM Boat barns. Visit White’s sailing dingy, “Faint Endeavor” while drinking his favorite cocktail! Listen to fans read their favorite E. B. White passages from his New Yorker days to his classic children’s tales. Bring your own favorite reading and join in on the fun! This is sure to be a unique event you don’t want to miss. Must be 21 or older. Cash bar.
