Rob Eddy, model maker from Camden, Maine, shares his inspiration for building models. Eddy’s models are known for their use of the silver, gold, and precious gems, in addition to traditional wood.
Model Pond
Cost: Free with Museum Admission
The Soling racing yacht is a popular one-design class. This miniature version is one of the most popular classes and has the largest number of registered models within the American Model Yachting Association racing class system.
Cost: $5 for members, $8 for non-members
David White, an antiques dealer and model restorer from North Yarmouth, shares what inspires model collectors to acquire their next ship or pond model and the intricate work it takes to restore these boats in miniature.

Celebrate Independence Day by bringing your Remote Control and Sailing Pond Models to our pond. Pick up races with other models.

Museum Crescent and Searsport Town Dock
It is race day down at the Searsport Town Dock, as the models of Lobster boats and America's Cup Yachts race for glory. Stop by and cheer them on!

Free admission all day for children 17 and under.
Celebrate E.B. White’s 119th birthday with us! There will be cake and a chance to make a clothespin Stuart Little and model boat to sail on our pond and take home afterwards. PMM is home to E.B. White’s sailing dinghy the FAINT ENDEAVOR.

Ken Weeks builds canoes in the traditional manner in Blue Hill. He will compare the building of a birch bark canoe in miniature with the 42 foot model currently under construction.

Beginning with a reading of “Giants in the Land” by Diana Applebaum, participants will also enjoy visiting the logging exhibit, making a scratchboard drawing, and more. Peapod Programs last 30 minutes to an hour.
