Summertime and School Vacation Day Camps for ChildrenKids are invited to spend summers and school vacations with us!
Time off from school becomes a fun learning adventure at Penobscot Marine Museum! Your school-aged kids are invited to join us for specially themed day camps throughout the year. Our carefully designed programs keep kids engaged and provide them with plenty of opportunities for creativity and connection with fellow campers.
Penobscot Marine Museum’s camps have flexible pricing options to ensure our programs are available to as many children in our community as possible. Book your child’s spot early — space is limited!
February Break: Tall Tales & Fish Stories Camp
Monday, February 17 to Friday, February 21, 2025: 9am-4pm
From Paul Bunyan to Mom’s story about the giant fish that gets bigger with each retelling, coastal Maine is rich with fish stories and tall tales. During this camp participants will start each day enjoying stories, crafts, games, and music relating to tall tales. In the afternoon, the campers will work on their own performance inspired by fish stories and tall tales. This may involve acting or puppets, and campers will have the option of performing live or recording their creation. On Friday at 4pm, families and the public are invited to attend the performance.

April Break: Kids Vacation Mini Camps
Monday, April 21 to Friday, April 25, 2025
Morning Sessions 9am-Noon | Afternoon Sessions 1pm-4pm
Each morning session will be focused on a theme and will include a variety of activities to get participants active and engaged. Sessions will include crafts, games, exhibit visits, music, and more. Afternoon sessions will include free-play time, stories, and a maker space. Morning sessions run 9am to noon, and afternoon sessions run 1pm to 4pm. Children staying all day may bring a brown-bag lunch and stay at the Museum. Before and after care is available.
Morning Session Themes
- Monday, April 15: Shellfish
- Tuesday, April: North, South, East, & West, intro to Navigation
- Wednesday, April 17: Sardines!
- Thursday, April 18: Rocks, Ice, & Lumber
- Friday, April 19: Sea Monsters & Shadow Boxes
