Learn about the artist and the history and geography behind the subject of the painting. These programs start at noon on Facebook and are later available on YouTube. 19th c. Fishing and Lobstering Women Today

What do Wabanaki place names tell us about Maine?  We also take a look at 19th century images of fishing, including Fred Cozzens’ watercolors of fishing vessels and fishermen.  We look at Lubec and their canneries for herring, and the Penobscot River Restoration Project.  Finally, Susan Tobey White shows us some of her contemporary paintings from the Lobstering Women of Maine series that was exhibited at Penobscot Marine Museum in 2019.
