Sailors’ Valentine Workshop on Zoom
December 10, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Thursday, December 10
Registration Deadline: December 9 at noon
Sailors’ Valentines are a form of sea shell art, popular in the 1800s, when sailors brought them home to their wives, girlfriends, mothers, or sisters. Most Sailors’ Valentines were made in the West Indies, on the island of Barbados, between 1830 and 1880, but production continued into the early 20th century. In this workshop, you can make your own Sailors’ Valentine to take home. Participants can work on the projects throughout the week or wait and join us on Zoom on the 6th. For questions, contact Jeana at email@example.com. Register here.
- All materials and supplies are provided by the Museum. Participants can pick up their supply package beginning Monday, November 30th. Participants must return all unused shells and the included tools by Friday, December 18th. $30/workshop kit.
- Shells, glue, and octagonal backing are mailed by the Museum. Participants can keep any leftover shells, but must provide their own tools. $50/workshop kit.
