  • Sailors’ Valentine Workshop

    $65/participant including shipping. Register here

    Sailors’ Valentines are a form of sea shell art, popular in the 1800s, when sailors brought them home to their loved ones. In this workshop, you can make your own Sailors’ Valentine. All materials are provided. Mailed Kit includes tweezers, glue, octagonal backing, and an exciting variety of shells. Participants can work on the projects throughout the week or wait and join us on Zoom on February 12th. For questions, contact Jeana at jganskop@pmm-maine.org.   • Kids Museum by Mail – Ice

    Discover the history and science of ice harvesting in Maine with this Museum by Mail kit. Kit includes real images of Maine ice harvesting, a BINGO game, craft supplies, plus a science experiment! Choose how you and your kids participate: DIY with included instructions, watch the video on Youtube, or join us on Zoom at 11am on February 17th. Links provided with registration. Perfect for ages 6-10, adult help may be needed. Register by February 11th to ensure materials arrive before Zoom workshop.

The game and instructions will be offered through Zoom, so make sure you’ve got your laptop, smartphone, or tablet all charged up. We hope you can join us for a weekly dose of trivia fun. Dust off that copy of Moby Dick and look around for that Jaws VHS – you have some studying to do!

Learn about the artist and the history and geography behind the subject of the painting. These programs start at noon on Facebook and are later available on YouTube. You can rewatch them or find ones you missed on Facebook or YouTube.

    Lumber Schooners

    Fitz Henry Lane painted a schooner carrying lumber from Maine to Massachusetts around 1850.  We hear adventurous stories about a couple of lumber schooners that wrecked and a rescue attempt that goes very wrong.
